Who We Are

The SHUWA Foundation for Health (SHUWAF-H) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization dedicated to improving the health and well-being of communities across Nigeria, with a primary focus on the Northeastern States. Founded in 2018 in response to the dire health crisis caused by the Boko Haram insurgency, SHUWAF-H has become a beacon of hope for vulnerable populations in conflict-affected areas.

We are committed to bridging gaps in healthcare access by delivering essential medical services, promoting healthy lifestyles, and advocating for sustainable health systems. Through partnerships with local communities, government agencies, and international organizations, we provide holistic health solutions tailored to meet the diverse needs of the people we serve.

Our Story

The SHUWA Foundation for Health was established during one of the most challenging periods in the history of Nigeria’s Northeastern States. In the wake of the Boko Haram insurgency, thousands of families were displaced, and access to basic healthcare became a critical issue. Driven by compassion and a resolve to make a difference, SHUWAF-H began its journey to provide life-saving health services and empower communities to rebuild.

Since our inception, we have grown into a trusted health partner, serving over 500,000 individuals and training hundreds of healthcare workers. Our work is grounded in the belief that access to healthcare is a fundamental human right, regardless of circumstance.

What We Do

At SHUWAF-H, we offer a comprehensive range of services and programs to address pressing health needs, including:

• Primary Healthcare: Operating health centers and mobile units to provide essential medical services.
• Maternal and Child Health: Ensuring safe deliveries, prenatal, and postnatal care for women and children.
• Nutrition Programs: Supporting vulnerable populations with nutrition education and resources.
